  • Job Title: Licensed Fishing Charter Captain

    Pay starts at $3,500-$5000 per month + tips DOE

    The position includes lodging and travel reimbursement.

    The season begins June 20th and ends September 20th, But is flexible if you are available for July!

    Job Description:

    We seek a licensed Captain to join our team as a Licensed Fishing guide and captain. In this role, you will lead fishing excursions, ensuring the safety of passengers while providing an enjoyable and memorable fishing experience. The ideal candidate should hold a valid captain's license, have knowledge of fishing techniques, and possess excellent leadership and customer service skills.

    Responsibilities:

    Safe Navigation: Safely operate and navigate the fishing boat, adhering to maritime safety standards and regulations.

    Guided Fishing Trips: Lead and guide fishing excursions, providing expert knowledge on fishing techniques, local fishing grounds, and marine life.

    Customer Interaction: Interact with passengers in a friendly and professional manner, creating a positive and enjoyable atmosphere during the fishing trip.

    Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of fishing equipment, ensuring all gear is in good working condition.

    Safety Briefings: Conduct pre-departure safety briefings for passengers, outlining emergency procedures and safety protocols.

    Compliance: Ensure compliance with all fishing regulations, licensing requirements, and environmental conservation guidelines.

    Qualifications:

    Valid 6 Pack Captain's License or ability to obtain and be licensed by April 1st, 2024

    Proven experience as a Captain in a fishing charter or similar setting.

    Excellent navigational and seamanship skills.

    Strong leadership and communication skills.

    We are excited to announce the opportunity to join our team as a Bear Viewing Guide for the upcoming season, running from June 10th to September 20th. This unique position offers the chance to share the beauty and wonder of Katmai's natural habitats and its bear population with visitors from around the globe. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wildlife, a commitment to safety, and excellent interpersonal skills to provide guests with an educational and unforgettable outdoor experience.

    Responsibilities:

    Wildlife Observation: Guide guests through natural habitats to safely observe bears in their natural environment, providing insightful information about their behaviors, ecology, and conservation.

    Safety Management: Ensure the safety of all guests by adhering to strict wildlife viewing guidelines and protocols, including conducting safety briefings and maintaining a safe viewing distance from the animals.

    Customer Interaction: Engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner, enhancing their viewing experience by answering questions and sharing knowledge about the local ecosystem and wildlife.

    Environmental Stewardship: Promote and practice responsible wildlife viewing and environmental conservation principles to minimize the impact on natural habitats and the bear population.

    Trip Preparation: Prepare and inspect equipment and viewing areas before excursions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for guests.

    Travel Coordination: Assist in the logistics of guest travel to and from viewing sites, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience.

    Qualifications:

    Previous experience in wildlife guiding, outdoor education, or a related field is preferred.

    In-depth knowledge of bear behavior and ecology, with a strong commitment to wildlife conservation.

    Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage guests of all ages.

    Must be comfortable with daily walking up to 10 miles and capable of navigating varied outdoor terrains in all weather conditions.

    Comfortable traveling by air and by boat to remote viewing locations.

    Commitment to safety and the ability to respond effectively in emergencies.
